Rita Shea-Van Fossen, PhD is a Professor of Management at the Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University and previously served as the College’s Assistant Dean of Assurance of Learning and Undergraduate Affairs. Dr. Shea is serving a three-year term as a Fulbright Specialist for the US Department of State, working in West Borneo, Indonesia in Spring 2024.
Dr. Shea-Van Fossen’s research explores change and challenge among individuals and organizations in addition to developing tools for management education and issues within higher education. Dr. Shea research has been published in the Organizational Management Journal, The Case Journal, Harvard’s Case Collection, and Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education. Dr. Shea-Van Fossen is an award-winning teacher and researcher, and her work has been cited in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal online, and The Atlantic.
Dr. Shea’s community involvement includes Vice President of the Fulbright Association-South Florida chapter, Chair, Finance Committee Swords of Iron Volunteer Corp, United Way of Broward County’s Women United, and volunteer for Feeding South Florida and Hands-On Broward.
In her prior career as a CPA, Dr. Shea was a consultant for PriceWaterhouse Coopers and held senior financial leadership positions at American Red Cross and Sands Hotel and Casino.
Dr. Shea received her PhD from Baruch College-City University of New York, MBA from Temple University, and BS in Accounting from Rutgers University.
